Center for Comparative and International Studies, in cooperation with Center Science and Innovation for Development and Mesdheu Center from Albania, the organization Center for Change Management- North Macedonia; PERIPLI- Italy; PSF- France, in the framework of Europe for Citizen Project “Youth involvement in a constructive dialogue: Communist Past in Contemporary Western Balkan” (YOU-WB), opened  on Feb 18, 2022 a call for application for participants to be part of the project YOU-WB.

 

Interested young people in from four countries had to fill in this application form in English and submit it till Feb 28, 2021.Project partners contact points shared the call for applications and supported young people to apply.

The partners consortium shortlisted 85 participants from four countries Albania, Italy, France and North Macedonia

Only the shortlisted candidates were contacted.

The participants were young professionals working for civil society organizations, government, media, justice institutions, academia with relevant work experience in the field of truth, justice & remembrance. Practitioners, activists and experts from (post-) conflict societies directly involved in peace processes were especially be encouraged to apply. The young people involved have a role to play as agents of change in society closely related to that of active citizenship in which people participate to improve the well-being of community or society in general, and provide opportunities for reflection.

In this project civic education activities will be important type of non-formal education, providing a mechanism for honing knowledge, skills, relationships, and commitments that contribute to young people’s effectiveness as individuals and as contributing citizens. Collective motivation also plays an important role, since acting together allows more vulnerable individuals and groups to gain more strength and power.

CCIS and partners are confident this project targeting young and well-educated people from respective project countries will be well accepted and will have other followers from the society, and especially by communication& dissemination will help to have an impact in knowing the past and constructing the Future of Europe- very sensitive issue in WB, to better develop a common European identity and active European citizenship alongside national, bringing together people of different nationalities and different languages and give them the opportunity to participate in common activities; supporting youth and consolidate their network for an initiative which reflects on the causes of the totalitarian regimes that blighted Europe’s modern history.
