A full week of trainings “We sign for Jobs:” project

In the framework of the project “We sign for jobs” During support of the USA Embassy in Tirana, the Public Relations Office, this week CCIS and ANAD have conducted four online trainings with the deaf community from the cities of Lushnje, Fier, Vlore and Berat.
Employment for deaf people is one of many possible outcome measures, but one that is typically used as an indicator for the ability to live independently, attain financial stability, and maintain a quality of life that is aligned with one’s goals. Despite positive improvements in legal policies in Albania surrounding access for deaf people, employment gaps between deaf and hearing people continue to be significant. Employment experiences for deaf people are also qualitatively different than for hearing people in Albania in terms of earnings, part-time or full-time employment, opportunities for advancement over time, and the likelihood of being self-employed.
CCIS and ANAD in a joint effort are enabling deaf people via a series of videos and training on employment opportunities and access to employment documentation.
